Job Description
Purpose of the Position
Responsible for an accurate and complete general ledger analysis with the general knowledge of divisions and information flow. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other ThorLabs locations.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
Responsible for ensuring a complete and accurate General Ledger Analysis
Identifies and implements cost reductions
Understands the computer system and departmental information flow
Completes Accounting Department Checklist
Lead accountant on inventory evaluation projects
Analysis of domestic and international F/S
Understands information flow between departments
Completes Special Projects as assigned
Identifies and implements cost reductions
Reconciles inventory accounts & COGS
Create independent verification of inventory value
Physical Activities:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Qualifications
Experience:
5-10 Years related experience
Familiar with a variety of Accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
Education:
A Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Axapta, Microsoft products
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of complicated tasks
Advanced mathematic skills are required.
Thorough cost accounting knowledge a plus
Consolidation experience a plus
