The Engineer will be in an Engineering Rotation Program where the first
six months are spent in a Design Engineering role and the latter 6
months are spent in a Production Engineering role. At the conclusion of
one year, the Engineer and the Marotta management team will determine
where their skills and experiences can best fit within the organization
for future assignment.
In the Design Engineer role, the Engineer is responsible for work
product to meet the customer's requirements (including all design,
functional, material, and test requirements from the customer's
component and sub-tier specifications) as well as the cost targets
established during the proposal stage. The engineer shall enlist the
help of other disciplines when necessary, such as manufacturing, other
engineering disciplines, and Quality.
In the Production Engineer role, the Engineer is responsible for the
technical management, maintenance, and development of new and existing
production lines. This individual supports the objectives of Marotta
Controls relative to manufacturing and operational goals. In this role
the Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation
sequences, test equipment, and processes that continually ensure that
equipment capacity will meet customer demand. The Engineer will also
implement process improvements based on demonstrated improved yield
results and participate in defect reduction activities and lean
Minimum Required Qualifications:
B.S. Engineering is required
0-5 years' experience in mechanical, electrical, software or applicable
Excellent verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted
interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as
well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to;
vendors, suppliers, customers, potential job candidates, etc.
Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated
experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:
Design Engineering (~6 months) Create development testing requirements,
development test instructions, and release of drawings for development
Coordinating the creation of a preliminary bill of material in the
business system and verifying its accuracy
Maintain ongoing surveillance of customer-driven changes, with written
notification to Contracts Administrator or Program Manager, including
program impact assessment
Ensure accuracy of all drawings/documents on the project, except purely
drafting technique issues. This includes tolerance stack-ups
Communicate technical and schedule problems, in a timely manner, to
Engineering Manager / Director, Contracts Administrator, and Program
Manager when applicable
Manage all duties per ISO 9000: Procedure 4.1 Design Control
Production Engineering (~6 months) Design new systems and processes for
the introduction of new products or the improvement of existing
Design efficient/safe tools and fixtures required to support
Create, maintain and refine detailed mfg. documentation (e.g.
procedures, Operation Sheets, Routers, Set-up/Tooling sheets, etc.)
through effective selection of manufacturing methods (inclusive of
inspection point selection)
Investigate, assess and resolve production issues effectively
Contribute to the ability of the Operations function to meet intended
design requirements, by understanding and properly utilizing
manufacturing tools and equipment
Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to tool/fixture design, material
selection, facility layout plans, cost estimates, DFM concepts, GT&D
practices, machine shop documentation (oper./tooling sheets, routers,
etc.), root cause investigations, trouble shooting, performance metrics
and machine shop operational activities
Perform all practices and activities related to Mfg. Eng. in a manner
which supports commonality, standardization (where applicable), First
Past Yield and utilization of safe/best industry practices
Contribute to a positive, cooperative and safe work environment through
effective communication at all levels of the Marotta organization
Participate in root cause investigations, troubleshooting activities (as
req'd), continuous improvement initiatives/programs, etc.
Additional Duties / Responsibilities:
Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through
effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to
the Marotta organization (as required).

This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a
manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office
equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and
fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye,
hearing and foot protection (as required).
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday
through Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties
