Software Engineering Manager
The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the
software engineering team on new product development projects and
existing products at Marotta. This individual will be part of a
management team overseeing the creation of embedded systems for the
manipulation and control of flight actuation systems. Activities for
this role include management of software tasks, tools, and resources,
initiate process improvements, software integration and testing, release
documentation and system validation.
The qualified candidate will have an Electrical or Software Engineering
training and experience. This individual will play a key role within the
engineering group and have significant interactions with a
multi-functional engineering group, senior management, program managers,
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:
Manage the software team performance to project schedules and costs.
Lead the new product development processes of embedded software systems
for commercial and military platforms.
Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, judgment, cooperation, and
ability to communicate technical information.
Support new business pursuits that address program technical
requirements and associated schedule and costs.
Communicate, plan, organize, supervise, and control software engineers
to work on one or more projects concurrently.
Interface with both commercial and military customers in technical
program definition and execution.
Identify technical tasks and allocate resources for software development
Manage system requirements and define lower level requirements.
Oversee/review technical reports to satisfy internal and external
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Science, or Computer Engineering.
8+ years of experience managing embedded software development team.
Embedded software development experience in C language for
Ability to effectively communicate, plan, organize, supervise, and
control work in one or more projects concurrently.
Experience in software development life cycle (SDLC) process following
CMMI, DO-178B/C guidelines.
Excellent Presentation skills.
Experience developing WBS, project plans, technical requirements.
Familiarity with MISRA and LDRA related tools is preferred.
Strong documentation and writing skills.
Ability to work closely with a team of engineers and technicians and
comfortable in laboratory environment.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a
manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office
equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and
fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye,
hearing and foot protection (as required).
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday
through Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties
