Are you a highly motivated and talented Contracts professional looking for an opportunity to contribute and thrive in a growing global technology company? Avaya is looking for talented and passionate Contracts professional to join our Global Commercial Contracts team, which is part of the Avaya Legal team. Avaya Legal prides itself in providing legal services to our clients that are timely, innovative and customer focused. The Senior Contracts Negotiator position will drive the contract negotiation process within a fast-paced environment focused on Cloud and SaaS-based transactions. You will work collaboratively with our attorneys, Sales, Deal Management Team, Finance, and other business units to ensure best-in-class, seamless support to our customers and channel partners. This position is based in Avaya's Morristown, NJ office; working remotely is possible.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Draft, review and drive the negotiation of a broad range of customer and channel agreements.
Review contractual documents to ensure adherence to company policies.
Perform risk assessments and makes recommendations to mitigate risk, working with stakeholders to develop risk mitigation strategies.
Serve as a "trusted advisor" to internal business clients by effectively managing cross-functional communications and internal teams to drive negotiations to closure and address queries or escalations.
Determine the contracting model and documents best suited to support the sales strategy.
Knowledge of revenue recognition policies is helpful.
Support global initiatives to improve and refine contracting processes and templates.
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree; a Juris Doctorate is preferred.
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant drafting and negotiating experience, preferably in-house and in the technology sector.
Demonstrated experience in organizing a cross-functional team to drive a negotiation to closure.
Understanding of legal concepts and contractual terms.
Experience negotiating Cloud, Software as a Service deals and knowledge of software licensing and other services terms.
Possess strong influencing skills and excellent judgement, with the ability to conduct negotiations on a non-confrontational, win-win basis.
Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment while managing and prioritizing a high volume of large and strategic negotiations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
