SRI is seeking a part time Supervisor, Heavy Equipment Mechanic to provide onsite technical and field service support to all test and integration at U.S. Army Test Activity locations.

Overview: The part time Supervisor, Heavy Equipment Mechanic is required to provide supervision of Heavy Equipment Mechanics in support services and work being performed on XM1299 vehicles with the M109A7 chassis.

Job Description:

The part time Supervisor, Heavy Equipment Mechanic will supervise Heavy Equipment Mechanics with the responsibility of analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. This worker operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. The mechanic welds broken parts and structural members, may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide supervision of Heavy Equipment Mechanics who are required to remove parts from test vehicles, and place them into the test site Supply Side Platform (SSP) inventory, shipment or disposal as directed.

Provide the handling, inventory control, shipment, repair, and return of failed components.

Submit a monthly technical report on the repairs and fixes performed

Submit a request to the PdM ERC Logistics Lead for disposition and ship to the final location as directed by the Program Management Office (PMO).

Immediately notify the PMO ILSM or Government designee, via email or telephone when a vehicle is rendered Non-Mission Capable (NMC).

Expedite shipping to/from maintenance repair activity, to include contractor, vendor or deport when a one for one replacement is not readily available to immediately return the vehicle to Fully Mission Capable (FMC).

Minimum Required Skills, Education, and Experience & Abilities:

Minimum of three (3) years of supervision experience work and performing repairs on heavy equipment.

Must be knowledgeable of M1097 Self Propelled Howitzer chassis and be proficient with its operation, maintenance, sustainment, associated tools, and support equipment.

Firm understating and knowledge of military customs and culture.

Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels.

Ability to work independently and with others equally.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Must be a US Citizen.

Must hold valid driver's license.

Security Clearance Requirements:

Successful candidate will have completed a government security investigation to include National Agency Check Inquiries (NACI) background check

Work Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to normal office and classroom conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is typically performed indoors and outdoors, motor pools, storage areas, and maintenance facilities.

Physical Demands:

Requires walking, lifting (45lbs), sitting, bending, standing and for extended periods of time. Candidate must be able to wear safety hat and safety shoes as required.
