The Director of U.S. Government Relations for The A.P. Moller-Maersk Group ("APMM") will be responsible for legislative and regulatory issues with a special focus on end-to-end and land-based activities/expansion such as marine terminals, warehousing & logistics, and trucking, in close cooperation with our business managers. The position is based in Florham Park, New Jersey with expected regular travel activity within the United States. Report will be to the Head of U.S. Government Relations

Key responsibilities

\*Overall lobbying responsibility at the state and local level to protect the interests of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.
\*Represent APMM in selected professional organizations and associations.
\*Manage state and local level political contributions, ensuring continued compliance with statutory and internal requirements.
\*A firm understanding and ability to manage a federal Political Action Committee (PAC).
\*The day to day job responsibilities would include but not be limited to, direct issue advocacy, direct lobbying, strategic consultation, stakeholder engagement, and coalition development.
\*The scope may include topics such as, but not limited to labor unions/relations, tax, incentives, and business development.
\*Contributes to continued relationships with legislators.
\*Ensure key internal stakeholders are consulted and kept well-informed of potential threats & opportunities.
\*Track legislation and engage as necessary.
\*Quickly understand the objectives of the company and will work hard to assist the company in achieving those objectives.

We are looking for

\*The ideal candidate should have 8-10 years of government relations and/or maritime transportation experience.
\*Bachelor degree required (Political Science or Economics Degree preferred).
\*Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with business colleagues, policy makers and authorities, based on trust and the pursuit of business results for mutual benefit.
\*Strong communication and public speaking skills, as well as excellent writing skills.
\*The sense of urgency required to reach timely results for business.

\*Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
