Public Cloud Engineer

As a Barclays Public Cloud Engineer, you will be a Site Reliability Engineer in a team that will be part of the whole lifecycle of feature development, from solution design all the way through to production support and back again, and help to define our future SRE capability. We are expanding our existing Engineering team to meet the objective "You Build It, You Own It".

What will you be doing?
\* Designing, assessing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
\* Developing effective tooling, alerts, and response to both identify and address reliability risks including automatic problem detection and mitigation
\* Being involve in every aspect of the platform - from the earliest stage of product architecture, design and development to deployment
\* Conducting performance analysis to ensure a reliable quality product in production
\* Designing and building tools to observe and manage a rapidly growing number of products and services
\* Taking initiative to do what must be done in order to keep critical systems operating
\* Performing general Cloud service, OS, Web/Application server, database configuration, installs, automation
\* Participating in on-call rotation in a 24x7 environment
What we're looking for:
\* Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of Public Cloud (deployment, monitoring, and ops visualization tools) with comprehensive software engineering skills in at least one language, including coding, testing and deployment
\* Approach troubleshooting systematically and have a deep sense of ownership for whatever you work on with an ability to identify root causes of instability in a high-traffic, distributed system
\* Willing to work in an ever-changing environment with a passion for sharing knowledge, working in a group to resolve reliability issues and identify strategies using automation and innovations that improve productivity
\* Understanding of mathematical and statistical models to assess trends with a focus on customers, using feedback and data to support decisions
Skills that will help you in the role:
\* AWS Certified to Associate level with intermediate-level Python and an ability to create and debug Jenkins Declarative pipelines
\* ITIL Foundation Certificate, software delivery lifecycle and release management with experience of working in an Agile/Kanban team
\* Understanding of Operating Systems, the TCP/IP stack, network routing and load balancing
\* Practical experience of writing and updating technical documentation
