Chenango County Department of Public Works has an immediate opening for a Waste Management Program Assistant. This is a position in the Chenango County Department of Public Works involving responsibility for assisting with various specialized components of the County’s Waste Management and Recycling Programs. The incumbent maintains computerized records and generates a variety of reports, and assists in coordinating technical aspects of the County’s solid waste and recycling programs and ensuring compliance with the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Part 360 regulations. The Waste Management Program Assistant also operates computerized vehicle weighing scales as needed. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the required duties. To qualify candidates must have Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: Successful completion of at least 60 semester credit hours and one year of full-time paid technical or administrative experience, or its’ part-time equivalent, which included responsibility for program oversight, ensuring compliance with regulations, or utilizing specialized computer software applications; OR Three years of full-time paid technical or administrative experience, or its’ part-time equivalent, which included responsibility for program oversight, ensuring compliance with regulations, or utilizing specialized computer software applications; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits above. Starting pay rate for 2023 is $20.26 per hour. Includes full benefits package.
